3500 Word Day

Today I passed the 75,000 word mark on the 2nd draft of my novel. All in all it was a very good weekend. Got in 3500 words yesterday and another 1500 today. For the most part, in these later chapters, I am letting the first draft stand as is, only changing a word or a sentance here and there. The pace of the novel has really picked up, and coincidentally, so has my writing. My goal is to complete the second draft by the end of this month. I will then go back and fix some of the structural problems I have identified. I hope to have this done by the end of may, and a third draft completed by early August. I have a family vacation planned to Neah Bay–the setting of my novel. If I can maintain this schedule, I will let (make?) my family read the draft while we are on vacation. This has been a long process. I have been at this for 18 months now. With any luck, I should be able to begin searching for an editor by the end of the year. I can’t wait for that stage to begin.
